4 Supplements for Your Heart

A healthy heart is vital to overall wellness and vitality. In addition to following an anti-inflammatory diet and getting regular, moderate exercise, consider adding these four supplements for heart health to your daily routine:

  1. Fish oil. Several studies have linked omega-3 fatty acids from fish with a reduced risk of heart attack and stroke, as well as lowered triglyceride levels and reduced blood pressure.
  2. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). This is a powerful antioxidant that promotes the efficient utilization of energy at the cellular level and is especially beneficial to for the heart muscle. It is a particularly important supplement for those who take cholesterol-lowering statin medications, which can inhibit the body's ability to synthesize CoQ10.
  3. B vitamins. Low levels of B vitamins have been linked to increased blood levels of homocysteine, a toxic amino acid associated with a higher risk of heart disease
  4. Vitamin C. This antioxidant vitamin has been shown to help lower blood pressure in people with mild to moderate hypertension.

It’s good to be reminded of these heart vitamins. I wish more people would take heart supplements more seriously. I found that a good heart healthy diet, exercise and a quality heart supplement have worked well for me. CardioMatrix contains phytosterols as well. These are known to assist the body in regulating normal cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It also contains Omega 3s, CoQ10 and folic acid (member of the B vitamin family). It’s a simple blend of nutritious support for the heart.
